After competing at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships and finishing in second, Syracuse men’s cross country jumped one spot to No. 5 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Poll Tuesday. It’s the men’s highest ranking all year after starting the season at No. 12.
SU’s women’s team stayed unranked while receiving votes for the fifth consecutive poll. It got three votes this week, third among unranked teams, after receiving four in the previous poll.
In the regional rankings, the men have maintained a top spot in the Northeast Region, while the women stayed at second after starting the year in fourth. The top two teams from each region automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 22.
Both teams have the upcoming weekend off in preparation for the NCAA Northeast Regionals in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, on Nov. 14.
