Syracuse field hockey remained at No. 10 in the Week 10 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll, which was released Tuesday. The Orange beat then-No. 6 Wake Forest in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament First Round before falling to then-No. 4 Virginia.
Led by an Aubrey Turner brace and a career-high nine saves from Jessie Eiselin, SU began its tournament run with a sound 3-1 victory over the Demon Deacons. Syracuse sustained its form in the semifinals against the Cavaliers, battling through double overtime before losing in a shootout.
The Orange earned 127 points in the poll, which closed the former 17-point gap between them and No. 9 Iowa to just six. The Hawkeyes earned 133 points in Week 10.
While both those sides kept their placement from last week, the rankings were reshuffled further up. Most notably, Princeton pocketed 199 points this week, rising two spots to No. 3 after upsetting now-No. 4 Harvard 2-1 in the Ivy League Championship. The Crimson received 186 points.
No. 1 North Carolina (219), No. 2 Northwestern (202) and No. 8 Duke (145) kept their rankings from Week 9, while the two teams SU played in the ACC Tournament dropped spots.
Wake Forest — which earned 155 points — is now No. 7; Virginia — with its 182 points — took No. 5. In the meantime, No. 6 Liberty, which Syracuse will play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, earned 157 points, rising one spot after winning the Big East.
