Syracuse punter Jack Stonehouse has earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference First Team honors, the conference announced Tuesday. Stonehouse is SU’s lone representative on the All-ACC teams, receiving 165 votes, 57 more than Virginia punter Daniel Sparks.
Although the Orange took a drastic step backward, falling from 10 wins last season to three this year, Stonehouse remained one of Syracuse’s lone bright spots. The senior averaged a career-high 46.5 yards per punt, ranking third in the ACC, on a conference-leading 60 punts. His 2,787 yards punted also ranked 9th in the nation.
SU’s special teams unit needed a revamp after a horrid 2024 season. And it got that under special teams coordinator Ricky Brumfield — who was surprisingly fired Monday by head coach Fran Brown.
Regardless of who helmed the unit, though, Stonehouse’s expectations were high entering the year. He was named to the 2025 All-ACC Preseason Team and also added to the Ray Guy Award Watch List, which is awarded to the best punter in the nation. He’s even spent summers working with current Tampa Bay Buccaneers punter Riley Dixon, who played for SU from 2012-15.
Stonehouse transferred to Syracuse from Missouri following the 2022 season. After redshirting his freshman year, he served as the Tigers’ main guy as a sophomore, recording 47 punts for an average of 42.3 yards. He immediately shined with the Orange, as well, producing 44.6 and 45.7 yards per punt in his first two years.
He’ll leave SU etched into the record books, with his 46.5-yard per punt average this season the best by any punter in program history.
