Syracuse cross country head coach Brien Bell was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year Monday. It marked his third time winning the award.

Along with his conference honor, Bell also won the Robert Grieve Award for best men’s coach in the Northeast region for the fourth time.

Bell’s honor comes after SU men’s cross country clinched its first NCAA Championships podium finish since 2016 and best placement under Bell in November, finishing fourth. He also guided the men’s team to a second-place finish in the ACC Championships.

Syracuse men’s cross country holds the third-longest active streak of NCAA Championships appearances with 17, only behind BYU and Colorado. Bell has been at the helm for the last eight.

Along with Bell’s win, redshirt seniors Sam Lawler and Peter Walsdorf were also named All-Americans for finishing in the top-40 at the NCAA Championships. They finished 31st and 37th, respectively.
