Syracuse wide receiver Umari Hatcher will enter the transfer portal, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. Hatcher spent four years with the Orange, totaling 52 catches for 797 yards and seven touchdowns. Hatcher didn’t appear in a game this season for SU due to injury.

Hatcher is the third Syracuse receiver to enter the transfer portal, joining Emanuel Ross and Jaylan Hornsby, both of whom had minimal impact during their time with the program. Hatcher showed flashes, especially in 2023, when he recorded a career-high 482 yards.

That production waned with Kyle McCord under center the following season. Other talented receivers Jackson Meeks, Trebor Peña and Darrell Gill Jr. buried Hatcher lower on the depth chart. Hatcher had just 17 receptions in 11 games as a redshirt junior and didn’t record a reception this past season.

With Hatcher in the portal, Syracuse’s receiving room still has the chance to be strong next season. Johntay Cook hasn’t announced a decision on his future, but if he stays at SU, he’ll line up alongside Gill Jr., as well as five-star commit Calvin Russell and four-star Amare Gough. Darius “Boopie” Johnson spent most of the season injured, but he’s slated to have an increased role as well.

Despite SU’s talented receiving core this season, its quarterback problems prevented it from getting them the ball. On Nov. 3, Fran Brown announced wide receiver’s coach Myles White was no longer with the program. Then-offensive assistant Josh Gattis took over the role and will remain in that position in 2026.
