Syracuse University students will no longer be able to use the GET mobile app — SU’s digital ID service — as a form of payment at campus dining centers, according to a Monday email from Housing, Meal Plan and ID Card Services.
Effective Monday, students must now use their physical SUID card to use meal plans or ‘CUSE Cash. SU did not provide a reason behind the change in the email, but urged students to “be certain” they have their SUIDs on campus.
Students can continue to use the app, a mobile finance software used by hospitals and universities for managing funds and making purchases, to view their transaction history, meal plan finances, upload ‘CUSE Cash and change their SUID photo, the email states.
Students enrolled in a block or unlimited meal plan are still able to register for and use the Fast Lane Hand Scanner stations at campus dining halls, according to the email.
Students or visitors can continue to pay with credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
