Former Syracuse defensive back Kaylib Singleton has committed to Mississippi State from the transfer portal, he announced via Instagram Tuesday. Singleton played in eight games for the Orange in his freshman campaign.

A three-star cornerback out of Orange Park, Florida, Singleton constantly made a name for himself with SU. He recorded six tackles against Miami and saw increased playing time as Syracuse’s season collapsed in the final weeks.

Singleton originally chose the Orange over offers from Michigan, Florida and LSU, among others. He committed to Rutgers in high school but decommitted before joining Syracuse soon after.

Singleton is SU’s first former player to commit to another school in this cycle. The Orange expect the return of starting cornerbacks Chris Peal and Demetres Samuel Jr.
