Former Miami University (Ohio) wide receiver Cole Weaver has committed to Syracuse, ON3’s Pete Nakos reported Wednesday. Weaver recorded 47 receptions for 680 yards and two touchdowns across two seasons for the Red Hawks. Weaver is the third transfer to commit to SU, joining former LSU running back Ju’Juan Johnson and South Carolina tight end Michael Smith.

Syracuse was struck by departures in its receiver room over the past few weeks. Starting receivers Johntay Cook and Darrell Gill Jr. left the program, along with Emanuel Ross and Jaylan Hornsby. Despite landing highly touted recruits in Calvin Russell and Amare Gough, SU desperately needed reinforcements at the position.

Weaver’s production was severely limited during his first two seasons with Miami. After redshirting, he only caught two passes in 2024. His breakout came this past season, finishing as Miami’s second-leading receiver with 642 yards on 45 receptions. The Roswell, Georgia native was an unranked recruit out of Blessed Trinity Catholic High School.

Per 247Sports, Weaver is a three-star transfer, the 506th-rated player in the portal and the 99th-best wide receiver. Weaver likely won’t be the only receiver Syracuse adds in the transfer portal. The Orange had 26 total players announce their intention to leave the program, including key starters like Cook, Gill and starting running back Yasin Willis.
