Former Georgia State defensive tackle Jartavius Flounoy transferred to Syracuse, On3 reported Wednesday night. Flounoy recorded six tackles for loss in his freshman year and played under new SU edges coach Jeremy Hawkins.
At 6-foot-1, 325 pounds, Flounoy brings needed size to SU’s defensive front. Flounoy was a three-star prospect from Moultrie, Georgia, choosing to stay home for school over offers from Eastern Kentucky, Charleston Southern and more. He initially committed to Charleston Southern but decommitted and signed with Georgia State.
In his freshman campaign, Flounoy played in 11 games and tallied 22 tackles. He led the Panthers in sacks with three. Flounoy is just one piece of a much-needed overhaul for Syracuse’s defensive line.
The Orange lost leading pass rusher Kevin Jobity Jr. to graduation and defensive tackle Dion “Tank” Wilson Jr. SU recorded the third fewest sacks in the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2025 at 20. Syracuse is set to bring in recruits Alexander Haskell and Walt Frazier to bolster its interior defensive line. Flounoy becomes another key piece to the present and the future, and will learn under John Scott Jr.
