Former Syracuse wide receiver Jaylan Hornsby has transferred to Purdue, 247Sports’ Chris Hummer reported Saturday. Hornsby recorded 103 yards on eight receptions in 2025 and has three years of eligibility remaining.

The three-star recruit from Atco, New Jersey, spent two seasons with the Orange and registered 10 catches for 124 yards and one touchdown. Hornsby never had an outsized role for the Orange after flipping his commitment from Texas A&M to SU in 2023, following then-Aggies defensive line coach Elijah Robinson when he was hired as Syracuse’s defensive coordinator.

In 2024, Hornsby played in four games, logging two receptions for 21 yards before redshirting. His role remained limited last season, as 91 of his receiving yards and his lone touchdown came in SU’s early-season wins over UConn and Colgate.

Hornsby entered the transfer portal, along with the rest of the crux of Syracuse’s wide receiving corps, after a three-win 2025 campaign. Receivers Darrell Gill Jr. and Johntay Cook transferred to Ole Miss, while Emanuel Ross committed to UConn.

With quarterback Steve Angeli recovering from his torn Achilles, the Orange’s receiving room has been overhauled. Angeli’s presumed targets in 2026 include returners Umari Hatcher, Darius Johnson and five-star recruit Calvin Russell III, along with transfer portal additions in Florida State’s Elijah Moore, Penn State’s Matt Outten and Miami University of Ohio’s Cole Weaver.
