Syracuse University’s Department of Public Safety is currently investigating a case involving a suspicious person near a sorority house Sunday, a DPS spokesperson said in a Tuesday statement to The Daily Orange.
Officers responded to the incident a little after 11:30 a.m on Sunday. DPS officers were unable to locate the suspicious person, but identified an “associated vehicle,” the spokesperson said. The incident happened during the first weekend of SU’s Panhellenic Council recruitment, which continues until next Sunday. The investigation is ongoing.
In the Tuesday statement, the DPS spokesperson also said there have been recent reports of attempted theft near Greek life housing.
“The Department of Public Safety reminds students to safeguard their personal belongings, particularly during recruitment activities,” the statement reads. “Recent reports of attempted thefts near Greek housing highlight the importance of being alert and not leaving belongings unattended.”
DPS urges those with information about the suspicious person incident to call DPS at 315-443-2224. To report theft or other suspicious activities, students can call DPS or use the Orange Safe App.
