Syracuse midfielder Emma Muchnick and defender Coco Vandiver were named to the 2026 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced Tuesday. The seniors sit in a pool of 50 players expected to be in the running for college lacrosse’s top honor.
Muchnick and Vandiver were both named Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans and All-Atlantic Coast Conference Preseason Team members last Tuesday. Muchnick tallied a team-high 34 goals last year, being held scoreless three times. In the then-No. 11 Orange’s season-opening 9-5 defeat to No. 7 Maryland, she couldn’t find back iron on four shots.
Vandiver captains the defense, posting a career-high 34 ground balls and 40 caused turnovers in her breakout campaign last year. Against the Terrapins, she scooped up two ground balls, forcing just one giveaway.
After already facing three Tewaaraton watch list members against UMD, No. 14 SU plays 19 more in its remaining 15 games. Syracuse takes on the reigning Tewaaraton Award winner Chloe Humphrey Friday, when No. 1 North Carolina, the defending national champions, visits the JMA Wireless Dome. The Tar Heels have five players on the list, which is one more than No. 3 Boston College.
