Syracuse University’s Office of Academic Affairs will host a “Leading With Distinction” showcase on experiential inquiry next week, Provost and Chief Academic Officer Lois Agnew wrote in a Wednesday campus-wide email.
The event, scheduled for Feb. 23, will showcase the “distinctive excellence” areas outlined in SU’s current academic strategic plan, Agnew wrote.
The meeting is structured into three breakout sessions, each featuring different speakers from across SU:
- The “Foundations – Supporting Entry-level Opportunities” session will feature Associate Provost for Academic Programs Julie Hasenwinkel, Newhouse School of Public Communications Assistant Dean of Student Success Karen McGee, Benjamin Dotger, a professor in the School of Education, and Gina Pualine from Falk College.
- “Implementation – Putting It Into Practice” will host Undergraduate Student Engagement Manager Vicente Cuevas, School of Architecture Dean Michael Speaks, College of Law Professor Jessica Murray and Greg Munno from Newhouse.
- The session “Innovation-Expanding Boundaries Beyond the Classroom – Advanced integration” features panelists Seyeon Lee, the associate dean of strategic initiatives and research, Brice Nordquist, a dean’s professor of community engagement from the College of Arts and Sciences, and Alexander Deyhim from the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Interim Dean of Whitman Alex McKelvie will facilitate the breakout session.
The event will end with a panel discussion examining the ways “experiential inquiry shapes education and career paths,” according to the email.
Panelists include representatives from the newly formed Center for Student Excellence, Career Services and the School of Information Studies.
The event will be held from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Schine Student Center room 304.
