Syracuse softball was scheduled to face Toledo Sunday for its final game of the Liberty Classic, but the contest has been canceled due to inclement weather. Rain is expected overnight into the early morning hours at Lynchburg, Virginia, the site of the game.

SU enjoyed success over the weekend, winning three of its four games at the Classic. It beat Liberty and Toledo 5-3 on Friday, before staving off the Rockets again Saturday afternoon. Madison Knight hit two home runs across the series and pitched five strong innings against Toledo on Saturday.

The Orange faltered Saturday against Liberty, however, falling 7-0. Starting pitcher Jackie Pengel struggled mightily, lasting just 2.2 innings while allowing four runs.

Syracuse returns to action next weekend at the Terrapin Invitational, where it’ll face Fairfield and Maryland on Friday before taking on UMBC and Providence on Saturday and Sunday.
