Syracuse midfielder Emma Muchnick was selected No. 9 overall by the California Palms in the inaugural Women’s Lacrosse League College Draft. Muchnick, who’s in her senior year at SU, has tallied 64 goals and 21 assists in her three years with the Orange.
Muchnick became SU’s first player selected in the league’s first-ever collegiate player draft. Her selection made her the ninth Syracuse player in the league. She was later joined by teammate Coco Vandiver on the Palms, when the defender was drafted with the 16th pick.
After transferring from Maryland following her freshman campaign, Muchnick quickly became one of Syracuse’s most impactful midfielders. While Muchnick didn’t start a game in SU’s 2024 campaign, which culminated in a Final Four appearance, she tallied 14 goals and 13 assists.
Muchnick turned a corner in her junior campaign, leading the Orange with 34 goals and adding seven assists, though Syracuse was knocked out of the NCAA Tournament in the second round. She’s since provided a steady presence as a senior, scoring 16 goals across 15 games, including four multi-goal efforts.
Now, she’ll look to continue her momentum at the professional level.
