The Devil Wears Prada 2” (dir. David Frankel)
Nearly 20 years after “The Devil Wears Prada” became a fashion world classic, the sequel brings audiences back into the world of Runway magazine. “The Devil Wears Prada 2” follows journalist Andy Sachs’ (Anne Hathaway) return to the world of fashion under the same Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). Released in theaters on May 1, the director, David Frankel, envisions Runway in a digital media landscape, blending fashion satire with the contemporary ethical concerns of the fashion industry.

Backrooms” (dir. Kane Parsons)
In January 2022, YouTuber Kane Pixels posted a blender animation he made of the “backrooms,” a popular internet scary story. The video went viral, and in 2023, a film adaptation was announced. The film, hitting theaters May 29, follows a therapist who enters the backrooms in search of her client. Expect creepy hallways, fluorescent lights and otherworldly monsters.

Toy Story 5” (dir. Andrew Stanton)
At 4 years old, I remember tears streaming down my face during “Toy Story 3.” The toys grasped hands, waiting to be incinerated — then, they were saved. It’s the perfect ending to one of the greatest trilogies ever, so unsurprisingly, “Toy Story 4” was divisive.

Now, I’m skeptical about “Toy Story 5,” but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t thrilled to watch it come June 19. The plot — the toys being pushed aside by an iPad-like device — is similar to Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) being introduced in the original film. But, Andrew Stanton has a phenomenal opportunity to showcase the dangers of overusing electronics.

Supergirl” (dir. Craig Gillespie)
Releasing June 26, “Supergirl,” is the next installment of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe, and it looks promising. From the trailer, I expect a graceful balance between serious moments and the playful charm of Gunn’s “Superman.” Starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, Jason Momoa as Lobo and more, “Supergirl” is Gunn and Safran’s chance to prove that their DCU is the future of superhero flicks.

Minions & Monsters” (dir. Pierre Coffin)
The seventh installment in the Despicable Me universe goes old Hollywood on July 1. Set in the 1920s, the film follows the Minions as they chase movie stardom, lose it all and accidentally unleash monsters into the world. The film boasts a stacked voice cast with Jeff Bridges, Christoph Waltz, Jesse Eisenberg and Allison Janney.

Moana” (dir. Thomas Kail)
Disney’s live-action remake of its 2016 animated hit arrives July 10, with Catherine Laga’aia stepping into the titular role and Dwayne Johnson reprising his turn as the demigod Maui. The film keeps the original’s spirit of Pacific Islander celebration intact with Lin-Manuel Miranda back on songwriting duties. Whether the live-action treatment does the animated classic justice is the question of the summer.

The Odyssey” (dir. Christopher Nolan)
Christopher Nolan is adapting one of the most influential pieces of writing to ever exist: Homer’s “The Odyssey.” With Ludwig Göransson composing the score and a stacked cast featuring the likes of Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, this could be the defining film of our generation. On July 17, we’ll see if Nolan’s “The Odyssey” defies the gods.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day” (dir. Destin Daniel Cretton)
Holland’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man swings into his fourth movie on July 31. After the world forgot about Peter Parker in the last film, he continues to protect fictional New York City from various threats. The film promises a brand new villain and the return of beloved characters like MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon).

The Adventures of Cliff Booth” (dir. David Fincher)
We’re getting a Quentin Tarantino film in 2026 — kind of. Set to release in August on Netflix, Tarantino trusted David Fincher with directorial duties on “The Adventures of Cliff Booth.” In a sequel to Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,” Brad Pitt is set to reprise his Oscar-winning role as Hollywood stuntman Cliff Booth. Who knows if we’ll ever get another film directed by Tarantino, but seeing another one of his scripts on the big screen is a real treat.
