Content creator and Syracuse University alum Roger Elliot Moore, known online as “Metronade,” died Monday afternoon in an accident, according to a Friday Instagram post on his account.
Moore graduated from SU in 2024 with a degree in film from the College of Visual and Performing Arts. He became a well-known social media personality with about 1.2 million followers on TikTok, 600,000 on Instagram and 180,000 on YouTube.
Moore’s content included “cinematic skits based on his own struggles” to help his viewers feel less alone, according to the post. He is credited with being “a blueprint for the modern-day creator” and a “driving force” for the founding of SU’s Center for the Creator Economy, according to a CCE Instagram post.
“His presence shaped the (Syracuse) community in ways that will impact generations to come,” the post said. “Roger lived with love, compassion, and a fearless creative spirit… he will be deeply missed.”
Moore often shared his beliefs in faith and kindness through his online platforms and in person. He is survived by his “online community” in addition to family and friends, according to the post.
Moore’s friends and family intend to honor him by sharing some of his unfinished work, which he wasn’t able to unveil before his death, according to the post. They asked for privacy as they “navigate this impossible time.”
