Former Vermont midfielder Tristan Whitaker committed to Syracuse men’s lacrosse, Inside Lacrosse reported Tuesday. Whitaker logged 59 goals and 24 assists in four seasons with the Catamounts.
The midfielder has one year of eligibility remaining and arrives at SU as a graduate transfer.
While the deadline to enter the transfer portal was June 8, players seeking a graduate year transfer, like Whitaker, can jump in the portal anytime.
Whitaker earned America East All-Conference Second Team honors in 2023 and 2024 at UVM. He missed part of 2025 with a leg injury, playing only eight games. This past season, the 6-foot Whitaker logged 10 goals and five assists.
Whitaker is the fourth player to join Syracuse out of the portal this season to replenish a roster that lost many key senior contributors.
He joins former Lafayette midfielder Cooper Pasko, former Bryant midfielder/attack Zac Amend and former UMass-Lowell midfielder Johnny Soi.
The Orange have only lost two players to the portal this offseason. Goalkeeper Michael Ippoliti headed to Virginia and defender/long-stick defensive midfielder Brett Spallina also entered the portal.
