Three-star class of 2027 defender Drew Rothman committed to Syracuse men’s lacrosse, he announced on social media Monday. Rothman is SU’s ninth 2027 commit and third defender in the class.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound defender attends Seton Hall Prep (New Jersey) and scooped up 37 ground balls last season. The New Jersey native is a lengthy defender who can play as a close defender and long-stick midfielder.

Rothman also played club lacrosse for Mad Dog National, where he was on the National 2027 Gold team last summer.

With Rothman’s addition, the Orange’s 2027 class ranks 10th nationally and fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference, per Inside Lacrosse. Rothman joins top-rated goaltender Moe Sobel, three-star defender Jake Goodwin and Luke LaRocca as Syracuse’s only defensive commitments.

SU’s recruiting is an effort to replicate its 2026 season, where it made the Final Four for the second consecutive year despite falling to Notre Dame.
