3-star forward Jack Donohue becomes Syracuse’s 1st 2027 commit

Syracuse men’s basketball has its first class of 2027 commit. Forward Jack Donohue has committed to the Orange, he announced on Instagram Monday.
The 6-foot-8 Donohue was rated as a three-star prospect and the fourth-best player in his class from Massachusetts, per 247Sports.
The Albany native plays at the Newman School (Massachusetts) and NJ ShoreShots in the Under Armour AAU league. Donohue chose SU over offers from Penn State, Florida Atlantic, UAlbany, Penn and Holy Cross, among others.
In June 2025, Donohue underwent open-heart surgery to repair a heart defect, an anomalous coronary artery, where not enough blood flow was reaching his heart muscle. He’s made a full recovery, he told The Times Union in June.
“Some of the other things that used to hold him back pre-surgery — like strength, athleticism, quickness — you can see the vision as he grows in those areas,” Donohue’s development coach Steve Dagostino told The Times Union. “The sky’s the limit for the level he can play in college basketball.”
