Onondaga County no longer under tornado warning, National Weather Service says

Onondaga County is no longer under a tornado warning, according to the National Weather Service. Syracuse University urged students to continue to remain alert due to severe thunderstorms.
The NWS issued a tornado warning for Onondaga County at around 8:41 p.m. until 9:15 p.m. SU alerted students of the warning through an Orange Alert by email, text and phone call.
“Severe thunderstorms capable of producing both tornadoes and extensive straight line wind damage were located over Union Springs, or near Auburn, moving east at 40 mph,” according to the NWS.
Those in the area were advised to remain indoors and away from windows until the all-clear was issued. The NWS also warned that tornadoes are “extremely difficult” to see at night and urged people to take cover.
Prior to the warning, the NWS issued another tornado warning at 4 p.m. in effect until 11 p.m. Wednesday.
