Former Syracuse head coach Adrian Autry will join Virginia’s coaching staff, CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein first reported Thursday. Autry was fired on March 11 after three seasons as the Orange’s head coach.
Under Autry’s tutelage, SU had a 49-48 record and never made the NCAA Tournament. He’ll now join Ryan Odom’s UVA staff in his first job since being fired.
Autry and Odom worked together on Virginia Tech’s staff from 2008-10, with Autry serving as Director of Basketball Operations and Odom as an assistant coach. The Cavaliers went 30-6 and made the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament title game this past season, which was Odom’s first at the helm after serving as VCU’s head coach.
Before joining Syracuse’s coaching staff as an assistant in 2011, Autry was an assistant at VT for the 2010-11 season. With the Orange, he was promoted to associate head coach in 2016 and then took over as head coach for Jim Boeheim in 2023.
